Known for many things, but the term that describes her best is “Mother of Phoenix”. It is surprising that she is not mentioned more in conversations and stories of how Phoenix was built and developed. Without her, we would not have irrigation systems, a top-notch education system, or a luxury tourist industry. Adeline Gray is such an important part of Phoenix’s history and we have been given an amazing opportunity to bring her story to life, as well as give her the long-overdue credit she deserves. She changed the dynamics in the valley to what we know today. She is inspirational to the City of Phoenix we know and love.
